Ancient Sparta - Ruins of the City-State

Sparta (in ancient times and now) is situated near the Taygetos Mountains - the largest in the Peloponnese.  During the Classical Age of Greece, Sparta was a city-state whose kings (according to all accounts) ruled the area with "an iron fist."
