Atomic Bomb - Recreation of the First TestBy mid-July, of 1945, a new weapon (being developed, in secret, by the "Manhattan Project") was ready for testing. This clip, from a BBC documentary on Hiroshima, recreates what happened when the very first atomic bomb was detonated in New Mexico. Not only were scientists stunned by what they witnessed, they began to worry about what they had created.
CreditsThis vide clip is from a BBC documentary - Hiroshima - in which surviving members of the Enola Gay crew talk about their mission to deliver the atomic bomb to that city. The documentary is part of a significantly broader BBC series on the History of World War II. |
