Attila Meets Leo I - Medieval Picture, Chronicon PictumThis picture of Attila, King of the Huns, meeting Pope Leo I is from a facsimile of the Chronicon Pictum - a 14th-century Hungarian chronicle which begins with the story of Attila. The Pope (also called Leo the Great) successfully convinced Attila to spare Rome (and Italy) from further conquest and plunder.
