Battles of Saratoga, 1776 - Annotated Maps from USMA

General Burgoyne’s Expedition, from June to October of 1777, culminated in a decisive loss at Saratoga, New York.  This map depicts the expedition and the two Saratoga battles: Battle of Freeman’s Farm (September 19, 1777) and Battle of Bemis Heights (October 7, 1777).

Following the British defeat at Saratoga, foreign powers began to think that America could actually win the war and began to offer their help.
