Birkenau - Family "Selected" for Gas Chamber

This photograph depicts a Jewish mother and her four children, awaiting "selection" at Birkenau.  They had traveled from the ghetto in Beregszasz (Hungary), leaving on May 17th and arriving at Birkenau on May 27, 1944.

According to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, they are identified as:

Family of Slovak Jewess Lili Jacob (her aunt Tauba with her four children) awaiting for a selection at the ramp in Birkenau. During the selection all were sent to gas chambers. The transport from the ghetto in Beregszasz in Hungary left on May 17, 1944 and arrived on May 27, 1944.
