Boxing Match: Jim Braddock v. Max BaerJim Braddock - a 10 to 1 underdog - stunned boxing fans everywhere when he defeated the reigning champion, Max Baer, on the 13th of June, 1935. Both men were Americans. Note that Baer is wearing the Star of David on his boxing shorts. His father was Jewish, although Baer was raised Catholic (the religion of his mother).
