Brothers KaramazovDostoevsky scholars, and many other people who love the Russian writer's works, often say that Brothers Karamazov is his masterpiece. The novel, with its rich character development, is well-suited for film. This version, which stars Yul Brynner as Dmitri and William Shatner as Alexei, is from 1958. Brothers, as the novel is affectionately known, was published in November, 1880. Dostoevsky, who died a few months after he finished the work, originally meant for it to be part of an epic entitled The Life of a Great Sinner. See, also:
