Catherine of Braganza - Dowry Gave Bombay to Britain
This is a portrait of Catherine of Braganza, the Portugese Infanta who married Charles II of Britain. Her marriage dowry included much (but not all) of today's Mumbai. Britain took control of the Bombay/Mumbai area as a result of this wedding payment. Click on the image for a better view.
