Charles MacLaren - Determined Location of TroyCharles MacLaren, a Scot who was a member of the Geological Societies of France, London and Edinburgh, determined that Troy was located in present-day Turkey. As he noted in his book on the subject - The Plain of Troy Described - "Troy occupied the hill now named Hissarlik." (See Preface, page viii.) As it happens, MacLaren was correct. In this picture, he is the gentleman on the left.
