Crime and Punishment - Am I a Suspect?Rodya Raskolnikov (played, in this BBC production, by John Simm) is a poor student living in a non-desirable section of St Petersburg. Porfiry, the police inspector (played by Ian McDiarmid) who keeps his suspect "hanging in mid-air," believes he has found the murderer of two people. The inspector wants a confession, and his means of extracting it (in this dramatization) are faithful to Dostoevsky's famous book - Crime and Punishment - believed to be the world's first psychological thriller.
