C.S. Lewis - The Real Wardrobe

According to Warnie Lewis, Jack's brother, this is the wardrobe which plays such a prominent role in the Chronicles of Narnia - and, especially, in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Today, it is owned by Wheaton College - as it has been for the past several decades.

The Lewis family wardrobe at the Wade Center is significant for a variety of reasons: It was hand carved by Lewis’s grandfather, and stood for many years in the family home of “Little Lea” in Belfast. We also know that C. S. Lewis, his brother Warren, and their cousins often played in it as children. Warren Lewis told Dr. Clyde Kilby [the Wheaton professor most responsible for the remarkable C.S. Lewis collection at the college] that this wardrobe inspired the literary wardrobe in the Narnian tale.
