Death Mask of Agamemnon

Although scholars now know that this so-called "Death Mask of Agamemnon" actually predates the Mycenaean king, discussed in Homer's Iliad, the name endures.  The golden artifact, which Heinrich Schliemann uncovered in 1876, is now maintained at the National Archaeology Musem in Athens.  Scholars believe it was created between 1580-1500 B.C.
