Evacuation Orders - Americans Leave VietnamThis flash directive, from Henry Kissinger (the Secretary of State) to Graham Martin (the U.S. ambassador to South Vietnam), orders all Americans to leave the country. It is April, 1975, and Kissinger writes: "While you should not say so, this will be the last repeat last day of fixed-wing evacuation from Tan Son Nhut [a Republic of Vietnam airbase, near Saigon, which Americans also used]."
