Attempted Execution of DostoevskyWhen he was a young man, Dostoevsky was arrested and convicted of possessing subversive material. He was sentenced to death by firing squad - although that was never the planned penalty. Reprieved at the last possible moment, Dostoevsky and his fellow prisoners were absolutely certain they would die. This scene depicts the event.
