Gary Ivan GordonMaster Sgt. Gary Ivan Gordon, together with fellow Delta-Force Sgt. First Class Randy Shughart, volunteered to help Rangers who were trapped in the battle of Mogadishu. The odds of their survival were strongly stacked against them, from the beginning. Gordon's request to help, which he repeated several times, was initially denied because of the extreme danger. Not only was Gordon killed, a mob dragged his body through the streets - which was seen on American television. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor. CreditsPhoto, U.S. Army. |
