Drs. Taubenberger and Hultin - Search for Spanish Flu Virus

Jeffrey Taubenberger (Chief of Molecular Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology) studied the tissue of soldiers who had died of Spanish Flu during World War I.  But there were insufficient samples for him to complete his study.

Dr. Johan Hultin, who had unsuccessfully looked for testable tissue samples at a Brevig Mission mass grave (in 1951), returned decades later and found what Dr. Taubenberger needed.

In this photo, Hultin is pictured on the right and Taubenberger is on the left.
