John Wilkes Booth - Actor and Assassin
John Wilkes Booth was a popular actor who had performed at Ford's Theater many times before the night of April 14th, 1865. He knew the theater very well, and knew just where to go if the President and Mrs. Lincoln appeared (as scheduled) to watch a play. Click on the image for a larger view.
