Jules Verne With his Wife Honorine

Jules Verne met Honorine de Viane in 1856.  They married on January 10, the following year.

In 1857, the year of his wedding, Jules took a job as a stockbroker.  It was the same year that an Otis elevator was first used in New York City.

Twenty years later, Verne bought a yacht which he called the Saint-Michel III.  Growing up along a river, Jules always loved to watch the boats.  Now he could sail his own yacht.

Jules died on March 24, 1905.  Honorine lived another five years and died on January 29, 1910.

For a time line of his life, see "Chronology of the Life of Jules Verne," at page 220 of Jules Verne:  Journeys in Writing, by Timothy A. Unwin.
