Lewis Thornton Powell a/k/a Lewis Payne

Lewis Thornton Powell, also known as Lewis Payne, attempted to assassinate Secretary of State William Seward at the same time as John Wilkes Booth shot President Lincoln.  The would-be assassin is depicted here in custody, following his arrest for the crime.  He was later executed by hanging.
