Little Rock Nine - Integration PioneersOn the 24th of September, 1957, President Eisenhower dispatched paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock, Arkansas. Their mission was to make sure that nine African-American students were allowed to attend school at Central High. The President also nationalized the Arkansas National Guard who had previously been instructed by Orval Faubus - the state's governor - to prevent the children from integrating the all-white high school. This clip, from the Clinton Foundation, incorporates historical footage and still photographs from the 1957 crisis. It also includes comments from Ernie Green - the first African-American to graduate from Central High - and captures the moment when "The Little Rock Nine" received the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor.
