Louis Comfort Tiffany - PortraitLouis Comfort Tiffany (pictured here in 1908) was an American artist who enjoyed working with glass. According to the Museum of Modern Art, which has a Tiffany Collection, Louis (1848–1933) wanted to create with the type of glass available to medieval artists: Disappointed by the poor quality of American glass, he set out to develop a technique to imitate and surpass the brilliant colour effects achieved by medieval stained-glass artists. His work is still well-known. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City, has an extensive web site devoted to its collection of Tiffany's glass. CreditsPhoto, Library of Congress.
