Chaeronea - Map LocatorChaeronea, a town in central Greece, was the scene of a great battle during the summer of 338 B.C. Philip II, king of Macedonia, dispatched his army to fight against a combined force of Athenians and Thebans on the plain of Chaeronea. Alexander, Philip's son, led the Macedonian charge which resulted in the loss of independence of the Greek towns.
