Mary and Martha - Painting by TintorettoJesus walked to Bethany, knowing his friend Lazarus was extremely ill. When he arrived, Lazarus was dead. His sisters, Mary and Martha, were very upset that Jesus had not arrived sooner. This oil-on-canvas, "Christ in the House of Martha and Mary," is by Tintoretto. He created the painting between 1570-75. It is now housed at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, Germany. Click on the image for a closer view.
