Murder of Lee Harvey Oswald

The Dallas Police Department frequently put Oswald in front of television cameras between his time of capture and murder. Hours before Oswald was scheduled to be transferred to another jail, the police had announced when that event would occur.

As Oswald was ushered into the basement garage of the police department, on November 24th, many reporters were waiting to see him. So was Jack Ruby, a local man who was known to the police.

At about 5:00 into this video clip, Oswald appears with officers in charge of his transfer.  In front of television cameras, Ruby steps forward and, at point-blank range, fires a single shot into Oswald's stomach.
