Wright Brothers - Telegram to Father Regarding SuccessThe Wright Brothers' father made a note of the telegram which he received on the 15th of December, 1903. It was about the first powered flight in the history of the world. Recording the contents of Wilbur's message, he makes several interesting observations. Orville, who took the controls during the first attempt, flew 112 feet. The telegram noted the short distance was apparently caused by an error at the startt: Misjudgment at start reduced flight (to) one hundred (and) twelve (feet) - power and control ample - rudder only injured - success assured - keep quiet.
