Old St. Peter's Basilica - Built on Orders of Constantine

This drawing by H.W. Brewer, from the late nineteenth century, illustrates how St. Peter's Basilica likely appeared around 1450.  Note the Obelisk on the left.  It was standing at the place where it was first erected in 37 A.D., as ordered by the Emperor Caligula.
