Orpheus and Eurydice - Greek Mythology, Part 1

One of the greatest musicians in Greece, Orpheus plays so beautifully that Eurydice (a wood nymph) is released from her tree-trunk domain.  Once that happens, the couple fall deeply in love.

Then ... trouble sets in.  As she walks through the woods, Eurydice is taunted by a satyr.  Running away, Eurydice encounters a snake which gives her a fatal bite.

After the death of his great love, Orpheus is determined to release Eurydice from the depths of Hades.  Descending into the Underworld, he convinces its god to let him take Eurydice back.

There is one condition, however.  Orpheus must always walk in front of Eurydice until they both leave the Underworld.  If he turns to look at her, even to make sure that she is following him, she will not be allowed to leave.

Alas ... the best of intentions fail to keep Orpheus looking straight ahead.
