Oxford Dictionary of Saints

The Oxford Dictionary of Saints (by David Hugh Farmer) says the birthplace of Saint Patrick is “somewhere in the west between the mouth of the Severn and the Clyde.”  (See page 412 of the 2003 edition.)  If so, he may have been born in today's Scotland.
