Pan Am Passengers Escape from Burning Plane

Seventy passengers escaped the burning plane - most by jumping off the port-side wing.  This historical footage, from a television screen shot, depicts passengers aiding each other on the ground.

Because of the dense fog, it took about twenty minutes for Tenerife fire and rescue personnel to realize that two jumbo jets were on fire.
