PersepolisPersepolis (a Greek name describing a place called Pârsa in the "Old Persian" language) was one of the capitals of the ancient Achaemenid empire. Likely founded by the Great King Darius I, the wealth of Persia was displayed here. Modern achaeologists have been working at the site for many decades.
