President Kennedy Overlooking the WallDuring his famous visit to Berlin - on June 26, 1963 - President Kennedy visited the Berlin Wall. He is seen here, during that inspection. On the same day, he gave his "I am a Berliner" speech which was hugely appreciated by the gathered crowd. At the time of his visit, the wall had been in place nearly two years. It would remain so for another twenty-six.
