Renaissance Artist - The Divine Michelangelo, Part 12

WARNING:  THIS CLIP PROVIDES CLOSE-UPS OF MICHELANGELO'S FRESCOES.  IT MOVES IN CLOSELY TO EXAMINE VARIOUS PARTS OF THE WORK AND USES MICHELANGELO'S OWN WORDS - SOMETIMES A BIT VULGAR - TO DESCRIBE HOW HARD IT WAS TO PAINT THE CEILING OF THE SISTINE CHAPEL.  PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Michelangelo - using rather descriptive words - describes what it was like for him to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.  A modern artist, attempting to recreate the famous artist's feat, ends up seeking medical help to ease his pain.

There was another serious problem, aside from the pain of work.  Because he worked so closely to the ceiling, Michelangelo's figures were too small.  He was determined to correct the issue as he completed the frescoes.

This clip, like others in the docudrama, uses the words of Michelangelo himself - told to his biographer - to relate how he viewed the whole process.  He was convinced that he was working harder than anyone else in the world.  And ... he was exhausted from painting an area of more than five-hundred square meters (1,640 square feet).
