Road with Cypress and Star

After he was released from the hospital in Saint-Remy, Vincent traveled by train to his new home - the village of Auvers-sur-Oise.  A peaceful place, it was surrounded by beautiful scenes which Vincent could paint.

Here we see a twisting cypress tree, which fits so well within Vincent's painting style, together with a beautifully illuminated night sky.

Van Gogh painted this in May of 1890.  It is currently maintained at the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, The Netherlands.
