Roman Games - Beast Fighters

This video requires the Adobe Flash Player

The best of the beast fighters were trained in special schools, just like gladiators.  Their favorite weapon was the spear.  The audience-favored animal was the lion.

On the day of special games, spectators started lining the streets by 6:00 a.m.  The Emperor attended such games, as did Senators.  People were seated according to rank.  Women were relegated to the top tier - the worst seats of all.

This clip is from Beasts of the Roman Games (a BBC documentary using ancient sources, modern excavations, expert interviews and recreated scenes).
