Russia - Defending the Country Against InvadersFor more than 700 years Russia, a nation rich in natural resources, has defended herself against invaders from other countries. This documentary, prepared under the auspices of the United States government during World War II, briefly looks at Russia's history and major battles during earlier centuries. (At 6:00 into the video, for example, we see a brief review of Napoleon's efforts in 1812.) The film was made, among other reasons, to help Americans understand why the United States and the Soviet Union were allies during the second world war. CreditsThis film, part five of a seven-part series created by the U.S. government
during WWII, was supervised by the American director Frank Capra and was
directed by Anatole Litvak. |
