Shadowlands - C.S. Lewis and Joy Gresham Lewis

C.S. Lewis, an unmarried professor whom his friends called Jack, was a highly successful writer when he met an American woman named Joy Davidman Gresham.  Author of The Chronicles of Narnia, Lewis had written of romantic love but had never personally experienced it - until he married Joy.

The couple did not have many years together.  Joy's cancer, which she had when they married, took her life on the 13th of July, 1960.
