St. Peter's Grave Site - Original ShrineThis is a reconstruction of the shrine which once stood over a grave believed to be that of St. Peter. Twentieth-century excavations, ordered by the contemporary pope, rediscovered what was left of the shrine more than 1600 years after it was first erected.
