Stonehenge - Why Was it Built?

Ancient Britons, hauling giant stones to Stonehenge, had another problem to solve once they reached their destination.  How would they position those massive rocks to create this prehistoric site?  What sorts of tools did these Neolithic people use to build this mysterious place?
