Truman Sworn in as U.S. President

Following the death of Franklin Roosevelt, who had recently won an unprecedented fourth term as America’s president, Harry Truman was sworn in as the country’s new commander-in-chief. 

This historical newsreel clip, now maintained by America’s National Archives, includes that footage.  It is followed by highlights of FDR’s life and numerous accomplishments.
