Vase with Oleanders and Books

Vase with Oleanders and Books is a still-life which van Gogh painted in August, 1888.

Vincent was fond of Oleanders.  He described them as “joyous, life-affirming flowers that bloomed ‘riotously’ and were ‘continually renewing’ themselves.”

The painting is owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, New York.
