Walter HagenWalter Charles Hagen (1892-1969) was one of golf's most flamboyant players. He was the first to win more than a million dollars in prize money. By the time he retired, he had won more than 75 tournaments and participated in more than 2,500 exhibitions. Gene Sarazen, a contemporary of Hagen's, said: "I think Walter Hagen contributed more to golf than any player today or ever." In this photo, Hagen is playing in a 1929 tournament in Scotland.
