Warsaw During World War II

When Hitler decided to take-over Poland, he sent his military forces into that country in 1939.  Death and destruction followed.

One of the lowest points of the war, for the Poles, was the utter destruction of Warsaw during the fall of 1944.  Hitler's troops decimated the Polish capital city after they crushed an uprising led by the Polish Home Army. By the time the rebellion was over, about 250,000 Poles were dead.

This video includes a compilation of historic footage, including the destruction of Warsaw in 1944.  It concludes with the city's rebuilding.
