This government-produced documentary - entitled "Negro Pilots" - introduces the American public to the first graduates of the Tuskegee Institute's military-flight-training program.  Lt. Colonel Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., is among the early cadets.

The pilots trained on P-40s, then went to Italy as the country's "first Negro pursuit squad."  Colonel Davis was the unit's commander.
