Ancient Temple of Artemis - Kingdom of Lydia Ancient Places and/or Civilizations Geography Social Studies World History

Image of a photograph depicting ruins of the ancient temple of Artemis near Sardis.  It was the fourth-largest temple to the Greek goddess (who was called "Diana" by the Romans) during ancient times.

This is not the Temple of Artemis which was a "Wonder of the Ancient World."  That temple is located near the city of Ephesus, also in today's Turkey.

Sardis (Sardes), located in today's Turkey, was once the capital of the Kingdom of Lydia.
