Errol Flynn and His Famous Trial - Summary

Did you know the expression, “in like Flynn” is from the real-life Hollywood movie star Errol Flynn? Learn the story of Errol Flynn, from movie star to alleged rapist to acquitted man.

In 1943, Flynn is on trial for allegedly raping two underage girls. Everyone knows of his reputation for dating younger women, but a trial for rape is another matter entirely. He hires lawyer Jerry Geisler to defend him. Geisler uses Flynn’s reputation as leading man to his advantage; he manages to pick an all female jury. Flynn denies all charges and amidst a chaotic trial, he is acquitted.

At the outset of the trial, he makes the decision that he’ll flee America before going to jail. Read in Flynn’s own words (My Wicked, Wicked Ways), why his life does not continue in a movie-star fashion after the trial. Learn why he questions decisions he has made throughout his life.
