Areopagitica - by John Milton

Areopagitica - by John Milton Civil Rights History Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs Education

John Milton passionately believed in freedom of speech.

Defending it, in Parliament, he delivered one of the most-impassioned speeches, ever, on why people are entitled to express their thoughts without government-imposed restrictions.

That speech is set-forth in Areopagitica.

Read Milton's free-speech defense, then ask yourself this question:  Was Milton right?
