Student Stories on the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - Preface

Welcome to the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World," a student-writing project with Sonya Turlington and her Sixth-grade language arts students (from Polk County Public Schools).

Sonya led her Davenport School of the Arts students in research and writing about the Seven Wonders. It's interesting to read what impresses each student, about those wonders, and to see the range of research-and-writing skills. It's particularly exciting to see how these 130 students took the assignment even further than their teacher had expected!

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

Colossus of Rhodes

Great Pyramid of Giza

Pharos Lighthouse at Alexandria

Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

Statue of Zeus at Olympia

Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

Please enjoy all 8 stories filled with student chapters on each (and all) of the Seven Wonders!

We are delighted to work with teachers and students in research, reflection, writing, citing and publishing! Just email us or join online.
