Student Stories on the Statue of Zeus at Olympia - The Statue of Zeus by Dawson Young

The Statue of Zeus was built in 466 B.C. Zeus was one of the Greek gods, in fact he was the chief.

They built the statue to honor him and his family. Other gods like Hades and Poseidon were in his family. They all lived on Mt.Olympus with many other gods other than himself.

Zeus became the chief god by defeating his dad the God of Titans. His mother helped save him as a little kid. He was put in a very secret cave, a place that nobody knew about. It was called Crete, an island off the coast of his homeland. The cave was guarded by young men and no one was allowed to go in.

When he grew up, Zeus was a Guarantor of world order. He lived with his wife in a mountain.

Well, now the statue of Zeus is gone and no one knows where it went. It is not able to be viewed.
