Alamo Scouts on a Mission American History Famous Historical Events World War II Visual Arts

In 1944 - from their base at Fergusson Island - Alamo Scouts began to carry-out training exercises before they undertook dangerous missions.

This U.S. Army photo - included in U.S. Army Special Operations in World War II - has the following description:

A party of Alamo Scouts lands from LCVs on the rocky shore of Kwokeboh Island in Tanahmerah Bay, Dutch New Guinea.
