Auburn Prison Crimes and Criminals American History Social Studies

Presidential assassin, Leon Czolgosz, spent time in Auburn Prison.  After he was convicted of killing President McKinley, the defendant was sentenced to die in this place.  Auburn Prison had an electric chair.

This image depicts Auburn prison at about the time of the Czolgosz trial.  The photo (by an undetermined photographer) was published in the Buffalo Courier on the 6th of October, 1901.
